For this project, we used techniques we learned in the classroom to come up with the best deliverables. My partners and I were assigned to tell a story through audio and visual advertisements. This was to show the importance of our technical skills being consistent with the story we are trying to tell. Over the course of this project, we learned that with such short ads, we needed to get to the point to hook the audience. Our target for our audio and video advertisements was people in retirement. Our video ad consisted of making the last scene hold for longer, making it easier to read. To get creative, we experimented with sound effects and music choices. We did this by finding soundbites that the average listener may not have heard before. In the end, this project allowed my partners and me to relearn some technical skills, while also learning about what it takes to make an advertisement effective.
About This Project
What?
Created audio and visual advertisements to inform people in Shenandoah and Rockingham Counties about the Lifelong Learning Institute. The client was JMU Lifelong Learning Institute, a place known for continuing education for retired people.
Who?
For this project, we targeted members of both Shenandoah and Rockingham Counties who are aged 50+. They may or may not be retired and enjoy the simple things, in life like reading, cooking, watching shows, etc
Big Idea
Seeing someone who is retired in an advertisement. People of a similar age might be inclined to enroll in some classes at the JMU Lifelong Learning Institute to try the experience for themselves.
Audio and Visual
Created with Adrianna Rippon and Anna Jeffery
Produced in Garage Band and iMovie, 2023
