Half Time on the Quad took place on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, when students had the chance to take a break from midterms and enjoy a day of fun right before fall break. I interviewed the Student Representative to the Board of Visitors, Xavier Williams, to find out more about how he put together the event for students to enjoy.

Solar Eclipse Before Kickoff
Role: Reporter
An annular solar eclipse was set to take place on October 14, 2023, five minutes before James Madison University kicked off thier game against Georgia Southern at noon. An eclipse forms when part of the moon's orbit is far away from Earth. The moon and sun will appear to be the exact same size; however, the moon is 400 times smaller than the sun. With an annular solar eclipse, it does not completely block out the sun, exposing a ring of fire. I had the chance to interview James Madison University's Planetarium Director, Geary Albright, about the importance of not looking directly at the sun during the eclipse and how students, guests, and staff should wear the required solar eclipse glasses to enjoy the view during the eclipse before the football game.
